Hillary gets another Super Delegate in Texas!

snip//

On the final day of campaigning before the Super Tuesday primaries, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton won her 19th Texas delegate — before a single state vote was counted — when U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett announced his support for the former secretary of state.

As a so-called superdelegate, the Austin Democrat is free to choose which candidate to support at his party’s nominating convention in July, and Doggett’s endorsement — delivered Monday at a San Antonio rally with former President Bill Clinton — displayed the deep party support that Hillary Clinton is counting on to carry Texas.

“I’m here today as a progressive Democrat to offer my full support for Hillary Clinton,” Doggett said. “As a progressive, I want all the progress we can get as soon as we can get it for the families that I represent.”

snip//

Clinton’s relationships have helped her gain 19 of 29 Texas superdelegates, including 10 of 11 Democrats in the U.S. House. Nationally, 455 of Clinton’s 546 delegates are superdelegates, according to The Associated Press, while Sanders has claimed 87 total delegates.

I remember him as part of a congressional delegation that fled the state so they wouldn't have to do something.... back in the bush days. But, I forgot what?

Do you have a clue what I'm talking about?

Wisconsin legislators did something similar more recently, when the GOP was trying to push anti-union legislation:

Super Delegate for Hillary = bought and paid for blah blah blah. Their uncles wifes godchild's 2nd cousin worked for Hillary in the 1970's or something like that. They are a greedy 1%er and eat children in the basement of their home.

Super Delegate for Bernie = (Even when they are a hedge fund 1%er) real patriot person of the people who gets the blah blah blah.

Still total crickets any time I ask how a President who can't even get the minority party in both chambers of congress to back his candidacy (0 senators, 5 representatives) is going to get anything he is promising passed?

Either there is a path to passing his very ambitious (and admittedly admirable) agenda (please, SOMEONE explain the "How" of it) OR

He is ignorant of how congress actually works (extremely unlikely since he's spent the last 40 years in it)
OR

At the end of the day, he's really just a typical politician doing the typical thing in a typical primary season and making tons of promises he knows he won't have the power to keep.. What is that phrase again for someone who makes promises knowing they can't keep them? I don't blame him for it. That's what politicians do. I just think it's terribly ironic that the foundation of his campaign is "honesty and integrity".

I have respected Lloyd Doggett, but the super delegate system is just another way of rigging the system, especially when it embraces corporate lobbyists, so Doggett's endorsement is very disappointing to me. It's just another continuance of corrupt politics, and because of this and the many ways the party has failed the people, I will leave the Democratic Party after this election.

It's unseemly how, just because Mr. Doggett supports my candidate of choice, and not yours, that you're disparaging him. Why the sour grapes?

After the final polls were in, Clinton has a 30% lead over Sanders (63.3% to 33.7%) as a >99% chance of winning today.

As the saying goes, "don't mess with Texas".

A great start for Super Tuesday!
