Hillary Clinton's Campaign Sharing Data/Funds with State Parties
snip//
Clinton has stressed that she wants her campaign and candidacy to boost other Democrats all the way down the ticket. Helping channel donors' support for her into state parties is one way to leverage her fundraising power on behalf of other candidatesand to link the success of other Democrats to her own.
The Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee announced a fundraising agreement in late August, making it possible for donors to give to her campaign and to the party's general election fund with one check. Clinton would only benefit from the money if she becomes the Democratic nominee
Nobody seems to be talking about this, but it seems like a BFD to me.
Clinton is using her superstar status and fundraising prowess to directly benefit the downticket races that we need to win to rebuild the Democratic party nationwide.
She is the only candidate we have that is in the position to do this, and she's doing it.
Those are some blood red states that she's raising money for,
If this ends up a wave election, Clinton is positioning us to ride that wave, even if she is not the nominee.
That is her commitment to the Democratic Party.

Hillary is sharing her campaign donations to make sure we have a strong Democratic foundation all over America. Not just in it for herself. She knows what it takes to get bills and laws passed. Oh, and I'd be interested to know how much the other candidate has contributed to Dems?

Progressive Praise for Hillary Clinton, From a Bernie Supporter
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/1/21/1473138/-Progressive-Praise-for-Hillary-Clinton-From-a-Bernie-Supporter
"... But I want to talk about what the Clinton campaign has done at the state and local level that deserves some progressive praise. In numerous districts around the nation, we simply have no one running or no one of merit running. How do you fix that? How do you change the landscape of the federal and state legislature?
Heres what I can tell you: beginning last summer through today, the Hillary Clinton campaign has reached out, fairly agressively, to almost every state party near us. They have done so with resources and people who were willing to help. Those individuals werent just there to help Hillary, they often acted as facilitators for individuals who looked to run for US House, helping to connect potential candidates to resources, provide them connections with people in DC; and when state parties asked, the Clinton campaign was more than willing to go on the record and back them whether they were a state she would win or not. These efforts seem small, but for state and county organizations, her campaigns efforts to reach out and provide them human resources and infrastructure was desperately needed, and in some cases, her support of these issues in states helped decide whether or not the state would push for them.
For those who have criticized Hillary Clinton on many issues, Id point out that it was her campaign that made real entreaties to state parties and encouraged them to become more progressive in their platform and legislative approach. Items like the Missouri Non-Discrimination Act push in Missouri? While numerous Missouri Democrats favored, pushes by partners and support through elements like the Clinton campaign showed many that they would have support, all the way up the ladder. When people knock her on LGBT issues because of something more than a decade ago, I point out that local groups will tell you her campaign had no problem reaching out to tell state legislators they believed in it and would stand for LGBT rights in the fall, which helped influence people to do the right thing.. not a decade ago, but in the last two months.
This is something that many in these areas havent seen in a while. Democrats have been too used to campaigns that said dont talk about this there, lets not inject national into your state, etc. and yet, when asked, at every turn, the Clinton campaign said yes. Repeatedly. To raise money for local candidates, to provide support for federal candidates, to help recruit federal candidates.
No matter who you endorse, this groundwork benefits all democrats, everywhere, including Bernie Sanders." ...

(61,712 posts)We have got to replace our Koch-funded teabagger governor. We have a good chance of getting our right-wing moran senator replaced.
The Clintons do a great job of supporting down-ticket. Hillary is expected to have some coattails in NC.

It's Hagen who's up, yeah?

(61,712 posts)Kay Hagan was a good moderate Democratic senator, but Republican Thom Tillis - Koch-funded, natch - took her seat.
It's our other right-wing senator who is up for reelection now - Richard Burr, a complete moran - and there's a good chance of defeating him. Deborah Ross just won the Democratic primary as our nominee.

(61,712 posts)North Carolina is a sad example of the influence of teabagger/Koch money. We were a purple state - very progressive compared to the rest of the south - until the Kochs took over here in 2010. It's been one disaster after another since then.....

(12,448 posts)To answer your question, Cha, (although I know you know the answer):
"Oh, and I'd be interested to know how much the other candidate has contributed to Dems?"
Zero. He has $1,000 in the fund the DNC gave to him for that very purpose; he has added nothing to it, and it apparently is just sitting there. Bernie spends his money only on Bernie.

(61,712 posts)The presidency is not the only thing going on. There are a LOT of really important races. All politics is local. While we focus so much attention on the presidency, our states are being taken over by right-wingers. It's the state legislatures that make most of the laws that impact our day to day lives.
The Clintons get this.

(15,438 posts)Yes, I remember that broadcast wherein he said that.
So it's fair to say that this primary isn't about electing Bernie Sanders as president but "gutting the Democratic Party". His comment sure does seem to underscore that goal by one of his supporters (@CoreyRobin) on Twitter:

BlueCaliDem
(15,438 posts)It can't be because of his policies (if they look at the current political climate in DC that's been in place pretty much since he was inaugurated!), and it can't be because he isn't a progressive (most progressive president since FDR) so what other reason could these people have to dislike this president so? Hm. I wonder...

(213 posts)For this amzing post. As I said in another post, that is one of the three things I dislike about Bernie -- that he doesn't raise money for other Democrats, just himself and his campaign. And 2) that he is not a Democrat; 3) that he broke his promise to run a positive campaign.
So many people in Texas are being helped by Hillary (and the president!) raising money for other Democrats.

(213 posts)It is just the tip of the iceberg for me, too. But as I think of all the other things, I try to remember what makes me so confident of Hillary. And yes, helping all these people in Texas just didn't begin this year, or in 2008, but way back in 1972 when she and Bill came to Texas to work for McGovern. Working to register Black and Hispanic voters in the San Antonio area and in "the Valley" as we call the Brownsville/Harlegen/McAllen area, was an early indication of where her career might lead. Now we (and they) need Hillary more than ever!
