... I was relaxing on my front porch when lo and behold a bird landed on one of the railings. He just sat there and stared at me...............I was like Could this be a sign? Is my life going to take a turn for the better? Will I come into some kind of windfall? Will there be peace on Earth in my lifetime?.......,..........NAH!! Birds perch on my railing everyday.

(51,697 posts)If you watch the video you can see the poor thing peck at the bottle before flying away. Who knows how long it had been trapped in that arena. It must have been dehydrated.

(6,283 posts).... and I've seen the inside of a lot of buildings, auditoriums, warehouses, etc. Birds in these types of buildings are an everyday common occurrence, and they land and perch everywhere, even with the human and mechanical sounds of machinery blaring. The Bernie bird on the podium was pretty cool, but to attribute it to some mystical or religious influence is hard to take seriously. That is the aspect I am having fun with.

I went to tell someone about it, but don't know what happened to it since it was gone from my area already when I got back.

(51,697 posts)That bird was free to land anywhere in the world, unlike the poor dehydrated bird trapped in that Sanders arena, landing next to a water bottle pecking it hoping for a drink.

(6,283 posts)Anyone experienced with this sort of thing know that birds have a very very hard time finding their way out of a building after they've found a way in. I have herded them to an exit myself several times after watching them fly around aimlessly for hours. I guarantee if that bird could have found a way out he damn sure wouldn't have gone for the water bottle . It was cute and probably made Bernie and his supporters feel a little special but some of the reactions were a little cringe-worthy.

(6,283 posts)...... just how overrated podiums are.
I have cardinals all over the place, nest in a couple tall shrubs in the yard. Robins going after worms all the time. Birds, well, everywhere! Hell, at work, we get birds coming in all the time. Yep, we get to chase them out, too. Poor things can't seem to find their way back to the outworld.

(6,283 posts)A bird out in the open has about the best sense of direction there is but put them in an enclosed space and they get lost pretty easily.
