Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumBernie is channeling his inner Trump
This morning I've repeatedly seen a clip of St. Bernie trolling Hillary, saying, "I don't want to make her any more nervous than she already is...blah blah blah...she's already under a lot of stress." Could anything be any more transparent? He's taking his cue from Trump, trying to find an equivalent of "JEB! is low energy," "Little Marco," "Lyin' Ted," etc. My only question is which one of his team of Svengalis came up with this ploy? Aspiring to be Trump-Lite is not a good look for you, St. Bernie.

(15,372 posts)berning indeed! From recent reports, his campaign is in a tailspin.
The question now is how many bodies they'll take down with them. I fervently hope that they have not done any lasting damage.

(11,605 posts)...and anyone with eyes, ears, and common sense can tell Sanders has gone power-mad. He flipped on his own standards and values months ago. He really, really, really wants to be the "socialist" leader of a revolution just like those men he has idolized in the past. They were powerful and very rich men, and no-one dared disagree with them once they grabbed power. Democracy be damned. He is now shaking down political foes (superdelegates), stealing data, and cheating, all the while talking about how wonderful it will all be for everyone when he wins--free college, no trade deals, little bitty banks, Wall Street will be in chains, everyone will have 100% healthcare, we will all prosper, no wars, etc. All is fair in revolution apparently.

In the The Yellow Wallpaper, the narrator is diagnosed with neurasthenia, a disease characterized by so-called nervous exhaustion and extreme excitability. The narrator is prescribed S. Weir Mitchells rest cure in an effort to calm her nervous depression and allow her to resume her proper position in the household. Significantly, Gilmans story is not the first time that a relationship between weak nerves and women has been highlighted in medical practice. In fact, the idea of nervousness, particularly among females, has dominated medical theory for centuries.
In the 18th century, this type of illness was categorized as one of the nervous diseases. Named because of their connection to the nerves, or emotions, the nervous diseases were particularly common among women. Because they were thought to have delicate bodies and sensitive minds, women were thought to be extremely susceptible to any disorder that could affect their emotional state.......

(7,143 posts)I've wondered since this was first reported yesterday what it actually means. It's one of the strangest comments I've heard in this year's campaign - a very passive-aggressive, panicky threat.
Your article adds some perspective. Whoever thought that this was a useful strategy has some uncomfortable issues.

(32,623 posts)What with all the remaining subliminal concepts of weak v strong. It will be touchy to rebut -and her campaign itself probably can't at all unless it blows up into a steady slam- because accusations of anything being tinged with sexist are hard for the gen pop to digest.
I really would have expected it from Trump before Bernie.

(7,143 posts)Time will tell if this becomes a narrative. If it does, it's hard to imagine any scenario whereby this redounds well on Sanders - who already exhibits a fairly profound antipathy (perhaps animosity) toward women.
Let the punditocracy tease this out.
