(35,568 posts)is slipping past you and whoever else is swallowing this? Seriously now Bacchus. I realize I have a minor in comparative literature but surely, surely one doesn't need a degree to understand the following.
Let me start with the relevant excerpt from your article.
Como saliste del escenario Hugo, como el negro primero, llegaste de Cuba muerto, afirmó.
http://www.telenoticias7.com/detalle_internacionales.php?titulo=Llegaste-de-Cuba-muerto,-dijo-Jacinto-P%C3%A9rez-en-ceremonia-de-Ch%C3%A1vez&id=161631
From there, go find Major General Pérez Arcay's whole sentence in context instead of a phrase that got cut off and is missing its punctuation. The whole sentence was Como saliste del escenario Hugo? Como el Negro Primero, llegaste de Cuba muerto, vine a decirle adiós porque estoy muerte (How did Hugo leave the scene? Like Negro Primero, he came from Cuba dead, came home to say goodbye to us because he knew he was dead.)
Tons of history, literature, poetry and truth just got dumped in the trash for this latest quite desperate distortion.
In "EL NEGRO PRIMERO", during the war for the libertion of Venezuela when Whites and Blacks united to fight off the Spaniards, a young soldier named Felipe the Negro refused to die on the battlefield (Cuba) and runs all the way to his General (General Paez) to collapse at the general's feet saying : "I did not run away, I came to die at your feet". And there he collapsed and died, right where he needed and wanted to die.
To add a sick little note, the Blacks were practically used as shields by the troops led by Simón Bolívar and José Antonio Páez so they weren't really keen on being shoved defenseless to the front but that's another story.
Since it's clear I need to spell it out, Chavez came back to collapse on Venezuela's soil and spend his last dying breath with his people because he knew he was dead which in this poetic, literary quote means "knew he was dying". Just like el Negro Primero when General Paez asked him "Why are you running away? Coward! And el Negro Primero answered "My General, I am not running away, I came to say goodbye because I am dead." And he collapsed at his feet and gave his last breath.
There is so much history, poetry and beauty in the quotes and phrases Major General Arcay used at the funeral of this great Venezuelan from the people and for the people, who was so proud of his Black blood. Chavez, as el Negro Primero , giving his life for the bloody liberation of Venezuela.
Added Bonus: Here's the song about that- Tacarigua: Páez y negro primero

(35,568 posts)that could maliciously be twisted to say what you want it to say even when you know it's false? Is this why you didn't even post the excerpt because the words "de una forma poetica" would give the game away even to people who know nothing about Venezuelan history and literature?
Shame Bacchus. And shame on the anti-Chavez desperados who have been busily plastering this all over social media thinking it gives Capriles some sort of a moral foot up in the elections. It doesn't, it just makes that crowd look either too dishonest or too ignorant of Venezuelan matters to have any say in things, confirming what the Venezuelans who love Chavez already know.
Personally I'm delighted when the AntiChavez crowd shows how low they're willing to sink to throw out any old thing and hope it sticks.
A big thank you to you, the people who recommended this and the people who tacitly gave you support, for once again showing that there's no low too low, no ridiculous place Chavez haters won't go.

(6,837 posts)I certainly suspect he died in Cuba and that is why he was sent home probably in a freezer. He's dead.
Capriles has plenty of moral footing given the constant lies of that corrupt administration. Shame on you for being such a lap dog.
Catherina
(35,568 posts)that even the excerpt you linked to, but didn't have the gall post, didn't support.
Shame on you Bacchus for posting lies. Shame on you for carrying such foul water for the vultures waiting to appropriate the Venezuelan people's ownings for their profit.
Shame on you for resorting to a childish "boo hoo he's dead" and not owning up and even pretending to apologize when you've been caught. Your visceral hate for a revolution that put food in people's bellies, roofs over their head, medical care at their disposal and worst of all, in the eyes of Chavez haters, taught them to read so they can keep up with your lies and subversion, and to write so they can fight back, seems to have enraged and blinded to all reasoning. And when when the nasty, deliberate lies are exposed, you refuse to admit any wrongdoing and resort to a childish "nyah nyah, haha, he's dead!"
You're going to have to do better than that to get your hands on their oil reserves because people like me will fight you tooth and nail.
And if the crowd you're associating yourself with dares do anything, you can bet that the Venezuelan people will not be fighting you off alone.
Shame on the lies you peddle. Shame on the people who spread those lies. Shame on you.
Bacchus4.0
(6,837 posts)and there is absolutely no evidence that Chavez was alive when he returned to Venezuela. Venezuela already sells oil to US so there is no "getting hands on oil reserves".
I will be very amused at you fighting me tooth and nail while the bus driver takes Venezuela over the cliff.
Shame on you for being a lap dog and a fool.
Catherina
(35,568 posts)Look down at your feet. You're standing in 3 feet of caca. You posted a link, not a story, not even an excerpt, but a link. And you embroidered that link with a totally false statement.
If you have ANY knowledge of Venezuelan culture, like maybe as a Venezuelan expat, it was even more dishonest.
Again, shame for the lies. And now even more shame for standing your nonexistent, foolish ground so firmly after getting busted.
Lap dog and fool? Bacchus, put that mirror down for a sec and try to get your feet out of all that ca-ca. The stench is foul.

It's hard sometimes to explain to people who are new to the propaganda machine regarding Latin American leaders freely chosen by their own people, but without the 'consent' of the neo-libs/cons who have pathological belief that they have some right to rule the world.
As we learned from the Wikileaks cables, anyone who actually read them, not much has changed since the old Henry Kissinger days re Latin America as far as our criminal role in the backing of coups etc.
But what we now know for certain is that any lie, any distortion will do in the Western media, and a lot of money, millions, has been spent to get those distortions published.
This thread is a perfect example of how there is simply no regard for facts when the Chavez haters try to discredit him, EVEN after his death and they think somehow that this will work, when it is clear these tactics have done more to elevate Chavez than what they hoped for.
Thank you for your factual post as it will make this thread a prime example of what we already knew, Chavez haters are not concerned at all with facts and never, ever should be taken seriously. They have over and over again completely discredited themselves. I intend to use this thread to demonstrate this whenever I need to.

(35,568 posts)I'll be sure to take a copy of this thread so we can all laugh at how ridiculous the opposition is. If this is how fast and loose they play with words out in the open where everyone can see, imagine how worse it is with their actions in the dark.
Just two days ago, Haiti arrested 2 rightwing Venezuelans and a Columbian who were trying to sneak in $350,000 in illegal funds for Capriles. $350,000 here, $350,000 there and before you know it Bechtel is privatizing your water.
Thank you Sabrina.

(62,325 posts)propaganda is perfect. I mean if you spend millions on propaganda, if I did that, I would make sure to at least raise it above kindergarten level.
But for the purpose of demonstrating the quality and credibility of the anti-Chavez minority, you are doing great. Thank you, thank you.
I will be linking to this thread when I need to.

(35,568 posts)Just admit you've been thoroughly busted when you knowingly but so clumsily tried to deceive people and try to do better with the propaganda next time. Suggestions: Adopt a leftist avatar to provide cover for your visceral hatred of socialism, pretend you're a leftist who only dislikes the Bolivarian Revolution because it's not Marxist enough for you, invent a girlfriend, or pretend you're a Venezuelan expat who's just weeping for all those poor starving illiterate masses who would be doing so much better if only they'd trust the hope and change neoliberal bullshit enough to hand everything over to the rich.

(62,325 posts)style comment that reminded me of my kindergarten students when they have not yet learned how to express themselves effectively. But nothing of substance. And typical of the anti-Chavez contingency. The outpouring of respect for him and the Venezuelan people's choice in election after election of Chavez, despite the huge efforts, the lies, the smear campaigns, the millions spent, has demonstrated the failure of the Right's attempt to discredit the choice of the Venezuelan people. My advice therefore to Chavez haters is to present something logical, something a grown-up would understand if they want to be taken seriously at all.
All I get out of what these Chavez haters, confined mostly the Western Right Wing, so no surprise to see the low level of 'discussion', seem to be saying that elected officials need to be PERFECT.
And that is their ONLY argument. OMG, Chavez was not perfect!!
Hilarious!
