Havana, Cuba, Mar 29.- The Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) has selected Cuba to host the 1st World Congress of Health Promoting Schools, as announced by Yanira Gómez, an official with the Education Ministry (MINED).

Gomez, head of the School Health Independent Department of the MINED, told the press that organizers decided to carry out the meeting for the first time on the island as an acknowledgement to the quality of the work of the Cuban State in the spreading of good living habits among new generations.

The Congress will be held in the context of the National Meeting of School Health and Updating, scheduled for April 22-28 in the city of Matanzas, where consultants in this field -from all of the island’s provinces- will focus on their achievements and challenges ahead.
