Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and his predecessor Alvaro Uribe have been called as witnesses in the corruption case of former Agriculture Minister Andres Felipe Arias, reported Colombian media Monday.

The pair have been called up by Arias' defense lawyer as part of the Supreme Court case in to the Agro Ingreso Seguro [AIS] scandal.

Arias is accused of redirecting agricultural subsidies meant for poor farmers in to the hands of wealthy families.

Santos and Uribe are among 100 witnesses called up by Arias' defense, which also includes five other former government ministers, Conservative Party Chairman Efrain Cepeda, and numerous corporate executives.
