Brazil Arrests 2 Men for Plotting Massacre


RIO DE JANEIRO – Brazil’s Federal Police on Thursday arrested two men accused of planning a massacre of university students in Brasilia and maintaining a Web site on which they incited violence against blacks, women and homosexuals.

The suspects, identified as Emerson Eduardo Rodrigues and Marcello Valle Silveira Mello, intended to attack a student residence at the Universidad de Brasilia, a spokesman for the Federal Police in Curitiba, the capital of the southern state of Parana, told Efe.

Inspector Fluvio Cardinelli told a press conference that authorities seized from the two men a diagram of a house in Brasilia where UB students frequently hold parties.

A text published in January on the Web page allegedly maintained by Rodrigues and Mello characterized humanities students and professors at UB as “cancer” and “parasites,” Efe learned on Thursday.

1. I took a look at their website...

Disgusting. They were not only inciting violence against blacks, women and homosexuals - as well as against leftists and poors. They were inciting and teaching how to rape 10 year old girls, inciting murder of women, several death threats against progressive political leaders, asking their website members to kill blacks, etc. With disgusting illustrations that really made me want to puke.

I've heard some weeks ago about the death threats made against the students of the University of Brasília, which is known in Brazil as a major center of progressive thinking. I thought it was just intimidation. It wasn't, they had been planning a massacre, interchanging several messages about it and even had floor plans of a civic center where the students use to gather.

Apparently, they were also connected with Wellington Menezes, reported as a member of their website, the serial killer that gunned down 12 children in a school in Rio last year and then commited suicide.

I'm glad these freaks were caught, but I still feel weird after seeing their website and knowing there are people so disturbed living out there.
