LIMA (Reuters) - Peru's government has rejected a pardon request from jailed former President Alberto Fujimori after concluding he does not suffer from a terminal illness, Justice Minister Daniel Figallo said on Friday.

Fujimori, 74, was imprisoned on corruption and human rights convictions stemming from his 1990-2000 rule.

It would be a good idea to have the devil give Fujimori a suite in hell, and have him share it with Guzman.

No pardon for imprisoned former president in Peru
By CNN Staff
June 7, 2013 -- Updated 1926 GMT (0326 HKT)

(CNN) -- Imprisoned former Peruvian leader Alberto Fujimori won't receive a pardon because the nation's president determined that he does not have a terminal illness, officials said Friday.

President Ollanta Humala made the decision for that reason and the fact that one of the charges Fujimori, 74, was convicted of cannot be pardoned, the country's justice minister announced.

In October, family members requested a humanitarian pardon for Fujimori, saying he should be released from prison because of health problems. He is serving four concurrent sentences, the longest of which is 25 years, for corruption and human rights abuses.

Fujimori underwent surgery September 19 for a recurring lesion in his tongue and returned to the clinic nine days later because of problems with scarring of the wound, the state-run Andina news agency reported at the time.

Peru’s Humala Rejects Request to Release Fujimori From Jail
By John Quigley - Jun 7, 2013 2:13 PM CT

Peru’s President Ollanta Humala turned down a request from the family of jailed former leader Alberto Fujimori to release him from jail.

Humala took the decision this morning after a government commission found the 74-year-old Fujimori isn’t terminally ill, said Justice Minister Daniel Figallo in a televised news conference.

Fujimori was jailed in 2009 for human rights violations by government-linked death squads committed during his 10-year rule that ended in 2000. Fujimori’s family sought his release from prison on humanitarian grounds, citing recurring tongue cancer, depression and weight loss.

“The request, the facts and the conditions don’t justify a humanitarian pardon,” Figallo said. Fujimori “isn’t terminally ill. Nor does he have a serious, incurable, degenerative illness.”

President Ollanta Humala, in an unusually stern speech, said there were no medical grounds for a humanitarian pardon and accused Fujimori of never apologizing for his crimes.

"After taking into account the concept of regret as it relates to proven corruption and human rights crimes ... I have decided to not exercise my power to pardon him," Humala said at the presidential palace.

Pardon is something that Fujimori definetely doesn't deserve.

It would be great to see some of his international pals facing the same fate of his.

Including Fernando Henrique Cardoso, who offered him the Order of the Southern Cross
