Chilly reception for John Kerry in Brazil, Colombia?

Chilly reception for John Kerry in Brazil, Colombia?
By ASSOCIATED PRESS | AUGUST 11, 2013 AT 7:58 AM

WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry's trip to Colombia and Brazil this week builds on efforts to deepen relations with Latin America, but he can expect a curt reception from the two U.S. allies after reports that an American spy program widely targeted data in emails and telephone calls across the region.

On Kerry's first visit to South America as the Obama administration's chief diplomat, the disclosures by National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden could chill talks on trade and energy, and even discussions about the Oct. 23 state dinner that President Barack Obama is hosting for Brazil's president, Dilma Rousseff.

"I don't think this is going to be a warm 'abrazo,'" said Michael Shifter, president of the Washington-based Inter-American Dialogue, using the Spanish word for "hug." ''I think it will be businesslike."

Kerry was scheduled to arrive early Monday in Bogota, the Colombian capital. The country is holding peace talks to end a half century-old conflict with the Western Hemisphere's most potent rebel army, a rebel force diminished in strength thanks in considerable measure to U.S. military and intelligence support.

Kerry is really bad. I think Condi Rice and Colin Powell were awful, but Kerry is turning out to be almost as bad. I used to dislike Hillary because she voted for the Iraq war, but right now she looks like the best Secretary of State in at least 50 years.

but they all tend to be kind of death-worshiping and cop-worshiping, so do murder mysteries but at least, if they are books, you have to use your imagination and read the words, etc. Can't get over that nerdy pathologist, what's his name, on CSI: Las Vegas, though. He's a kick in the pants. Classic science teacher-type, into bugs--I mean, the bugs that eat us after we're dead. Loves creepy crawly things. Takes roller-coaster rides to let off steam. Wonderfully eccentric character! I've gotten hooked on a couple of TV series through Netflix (no commercials--ha-ha!). All the Star Treks, even the later bad ones (after Captain Picard and Data). The new "Battlestar Galactica"--Gawd, that was SO GREAT--maybe the best TV series ever. "Weed" was fun. So was "Six Feet Under." And any Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett. But I thought "Thrones and Dominions" or whatever that garbage was titled, sucked. And anything to do with vampires, sucks. They took "Rome" off the air and gave us that shit. P-U!
