revolutionary posing as a simple Mototaxi driver. Fortunately for the security of the State, alert 'People's Militia'
were on guard and having none of it. They ruthlessly eliminated this Enemy of the State.

Pretty sure we have tons of it happening everyday in every country of the planet. So I don't get your point trying to blame "People's Milita" or the Venezuelan government for that. Are we supposed to blame Obama for every robbery and murder in the US?

Ever since Chávez took power, the murder rate has skyrocketed every year, each one worse than the last. According to UNODC, in 1998, it was 19 per 100,000. Now it's at 45.1 per 100,000, and I'd wager that that number is actually worse in reality. Compare that to neighboring Colombia which has 31.4 per 100,000 or the 23.7 per 100,000 in Mexico, which have much more in common with Venezuela than the US (which, by the way, has 4.8 per 100,000 rate, almost a 10th of that in Venezuela). You'd think that since this is regime is so great and prosperous that things would improve in 15 years under their rule, but the numbers don't lie, go check them yourself.

Where I live it's 0.8 murders per 100 thousand. That's about 1% of the rate in Venezuela (the real rate and not the fake government statistics).

The interesting point I get from this thread is the atempt, same as usual, to divert the discussion. What I had expected in a site such as this is a bit more mature. For example, one reason why murder is so common? Anybody has any ideas? I think one reason is the lack of gun control, and the complete breakdown of the police, judiciary, and penal systems. Chavez spent money on Christmas tree trimmings and forgot to plant the crops. So now the jails are collapsed, controlled by the criminals themselves, the judiciary doesn't do justice, and the police are few, poorly trained, badly paid, and corrupt.

I guess you do t get the sarcasm. The crime rate in Venezuela is at a record. And crime in Petare is a lot higher than in Venezuela as a whole. Petare is so dangerous many areas are off limits and everybody locks in at sundown. The government has put military forces in some sectors, but they can't cover such a huge area effectively, especially at night.

I suspect this case was one of retribution due to his job and also to steal the motorcycle. I got the faint hunch he may have been squeezing the wrong people, got the cash for the bike, and they struck back when he got careless.

But do you know what usually happens in a case like this? This guy had his own gang members and there's honor involved. So I suspect somebody will put a bullet into somebody else within the week. It goes on.
