Venezuela demands US explanation over alleged assassination plot

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/southamerica/venezuela/10267475/Venezuela-demands-US-explanation-over-alleged-assassination-plot.html

Nicolas Maduro called on the American president to explain what he knew of the alleged assassination plan.

President Maduro said that besides Colombia, it was hatched by far-right Venezuelan opposition figures in Miami. The Venezuelan president is a frequent and fiery critic of Washington, as was his predecessor, the late Hugo Chavez.

“Is President Obama so weak that decisions are made for him in the United States to kill a Latin American head of state without his knowing it?” he said.

Venezuela’s authorities have claimed to have foiled a plot to kill the country’s president after arresting two hit men, allegedly actingv on orders from a former Colombian leader.

------

Venezuela made frequent allegations of assassination plots against the late leftist President Hugo Chavez and has continued to do so under Mr Maduro, his hand-picked successor.

It is very easy for anyone to come up with a story of someone intending to kill him. And unless that person can present enough evidence of a plot, anybody in his right mind would just ignore him. Except Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela´s nominated president, who has undertaken a struggle to become some kind of celebrity.

Maduro was handpicked by Hugo Chavez to succeed him. But Maduro is a rookie , an ex-bus driver, and
Venezuelan politics are usually hard on anyone. Maduro has become a nuisance as of lately, crying Wolf almost daily. The good part is that already no one is interested in what Maduro has to say.

I suspect Maduro speaks so much non sense for two reasons: one, he really tries hard to imitate Chavez, and two he is creating a product differentiating with Raul Castro. I'm convinced the Cubans pull Maduro's strings, he just sounds too much like a Cuban puppet. But they may be giving him leeway to speak nonsense to emphasize that Castro and Maduro are somewhat distant on quite a few issues. So while we see Castro being very measured and trying to patch things with the USA, Maduro behaves like the wild child. I don't know if Maduro understands Raul Castro gave up on communism and is trying to move towards capitalism...he and his designated heir Diaz Canel sound more and more like fascists nowadays. So the question is, does Maduro realize he is being used as a clown, and that all the indoctrination and training he received in Cuba are worthless? That his mentors are quietly trying to build a national socialist mini empire and the communist slogans are just a sham for public consumption?
