JEAN-GUY ALLARD - Héctor Pesquera, the former FBI Special Agent in Charge for
the Southern District of Miami linked to Miami's Cuban-American mafia, is one
the candidates for the new U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, according to
sources in Miami, who believe that Pesquera, Puerto Rico's Police
Superintendent, is being promoted by politicians from the city with pull in
Washington.
Current secretary Janet Napolitano recently announced that she was resigning as
Secretary of Homeland Security, a post she has held since 2009, after having
been chosen to preside over the University of California's educational system.
The Barack Obama administration is searching for her replacement and Pesquera's
resume is one of those under consideration. Currently he is Superintendent of
the Puerto Rico Police, an assignment directly controlled by Attorney General
Eric Holder.
Last July 17, this former FBI "Special Agent" who was born in Puerto Rico was
highly praised by Holder's right hand man, Tony West, at a conference in Puerto
Rico, according to a Miami blogger who specializes in police affairs.
West congratulated Puerto Rico's governor, telling him that "they were lucky to
have Superintendent Pesquera heading the police, as a truly dedicated leader
and believer in bringing real reform to the police department."
In September 2012, Pesquera signed a $283,100 contract that will be completed in
September. Pesquera is the former FBI chief who handled the framing of the five Cubans who
had infiltrated Florida's terrorist groups, in an operation he carried out at
the request of Miami's terrorist mafia dons and then reported to Lincoln
Diaz-Balart, who was a congressman at the time.

(6,837 posts)organization. Pretty ironic that she is accusing this guy with links to terrorists. Not sure if they are still active at all. There leader was finally found and arrested a dozen or more years ago now.
Aside form the Cuba 5 umm 4 bs, I doubt the PR politicians have much sway in Washington to get Obama to appoint him. If they did, their political situation as a US territory would at least have made a blip on the radar by now. More likely Obama is looking for a diverse cabinet and his name came up.

(160,649 posts)"Machetera" is well known as a publication which was appreciated until a couple of years ago. Someone from Machetera works translating when it is needed, or useful.
I doubt this Machetera would believe you know what the #### you're attempting to say.
