Bogota’s public TV threatened and under ‘constant’ attack: Director
posted by Adriaan Alsema

Bogota’s public television network, Canal Capital, on Thursday called on authorities to investigate “constant” cyber attacks targeting the network’s website and threats delivered to its executives.

In a press conference, Canal Capital director Hollman Morris said that his network’s website suffered three cyber attacks, his personal Twitter account was hacked, and that he and his colleagues have received intimidating messages through social media websites.

“I am asking the authorities for swiftness in the investigations of the constant attacks on Canal Capital,” Morris said, adding that he asked the national government to provide the necessary “guarantees to exercise freedom of expression in Colombia.”

Morris was accompanied by Bogota’s Government Secretary Guillermo Jaramillo, responsible for security in the capital district, in support of the journalist’s claims.
