Here we have once again our president of the National Assembly, Diosdado Cabello, lying and manipulating during his public TV show
On ed:
But this time it's even worse.
He tried to destroy the reputation of one of the dead demonstrators, José Alejandro Márquez, by showing some pictures that they picked in the guy's facebook where he's dressed in military clothing, carrying what seems to be an assault rifle. Other men surround him, same clothing, same weapons. According to Cabello, the intelligence service had found that the pictures were taken from a "paramilitary training camp" in the US, where Márquez had gone with a bunch of fascist comrades. According to him, they were planning to kill Maduro during the recent protests. In order to back this hypothesis, he showed supposed communication between Márquez and his friends. Their supposed messages talked about killing someone if they got near him.
Cabello's conclusion? "Apatrid, mercenary, traitor" Márquez was on a mission to kill Maduro, but he got second thoughts as he was getting closer from Miraflores and when he expressed his hesitation to his comrades, they liquidated him. It was sure, Cabello emphasized, that the killer was in the group picture from the "paramilitary camp" he had just showed "to Venezuela".
I was really shaken up. The pictures looked so real on TV! I thought maybe it's true that some mad people in the opposition are training as paramilitary in the US and preparing to invade our country.
Well.... it turns out that the pictures that Márquez posted on his facebook (without even making them private) came from an airsoft gun tournament he had played in Venezuela months before. The Venezuelan Airsoft Federation just issued a message of solidarity with the guy's family, stating that Márquez was "a young hard-working Venezuelan who liked to practice sports".
Here in Spanish: http://www.eluniversal.com/nacional-y-politica/140226/desmienten-a-cabello-y-dicen-que-marquez-practicaba-airsoft
You can see the pictures on his fb account:

Reminder: José Alejandro Márquez died sunday night in Caracas after 4 days of coma. He was wildly beat up by two National Guards on feb. 19, while he was recording the demonstration with his phone. One of the guards ordered him to give away his cell phone, but he disobeyed. Instead, he started running away. Unfortunately, he fell down, the two guards caught him, stole his phone and kicked him so hard in the head while he was lying on the floor that they ended up putting him in a coma, and eventually killing him.

(135,425 posts)a tournament he was in, playing with toy guns, and DC tried to insinuate that the pictures were of the kid getting "paramilitary training" in USA.
He was kicked to death at a demo.
Reading is Fundamental. What he was trying to say, he said.

(135,425 posts)The only question here is how much longer you will continue to humiliate yourself, trolling a post about a young man who was murdered for the crime of demonstrating in VZ.
You think it's funny, and that says a lot about you.
None of it good.
But hey, keep kicking the thread. The page views go up and up, the more you troll.

(2,010 posts)He said Marquez was a right-wing paramilitary on a mission to kill the president when, in fact, he was a simple demonstrator. Cabello also said that Marquez was certainly killed by his own paraco (comprendes paraco?) friends. But nothing is true. Two GNB (Guardia Nacional Bolivariana, you're welcome) were seen kicking him in the head while he was lying on the floor. They kicked him so badly that he went into a coma. 4 days after, he died. Ya entendiste? Sorry my English papá...

Bacchus4.0
(6,837 posts)its certain. He goes onto show some more pics of paint ballers saying they are receiving paramilitary training. at 37:15 he shows the pic in the OP. He says his friends in the photo were the ones who killed him. Calls them mercenaries blah. at about 38:55 he then goes to say he received the training in the US.

(135,425 posts)This is probably one of the skeeviest stunts I've seen on this board, ever. That young man had a family, and he was killed for the crime of demonstrating. And then, the president of the national assembly takes his photos of him playing--frigging PLAYING--with his friends and tries to turn them into something nefarious.
A smartass here thinks it is funny to play games with that. Says a lot... this guy isn't much of a progressive. I think this kind of conduct is well outside even the LOWEST standards of this board, but that's JMO.

That poster should be ashamed of himself. Mocking the death of an innocent demonstrator is below the bottom rung. Like I said elsewhere, I hope the admins take note--this isn't about "discussion," it's about trolling.

Don't do anything else which is similarly disruptive.
Just because it isn't listed here, doesn't mean it's ok. If you post anything which is obviously disruptive, malicious, or repugnant to this community, its members, or its values, you risk being in violation of these Terms of Service.
Snarking about the death of a young man in a deliberately obtuse manner is pretty repugnant in my book.

(507 posts)Behind the daily scenes of anti-government protests, another power struggle is underway.
Meet Diosdado Cabello: Venezuelas National Assembly chief, vice president of the ruling United Socialist Party, and ruthless pragmatist par excellence. If the makers of House of Cards are looking to expand the franchise south, they should get to know Venezuelas Frank Underwood.
In recent weeks, Venezuelas political crisismass protests in response to a flailing economy, rampant scarcities, soaring crime, and ideological polarizationhas been portrayed in international media primarily as a struggle between a monolithic government and the embattled remnants of the nations traditional middle class. But this narrative is superficial; several storylines, both personal and social, are playing out below the surface. And these include a bitter clash between Hugo Chávezs successor and almost-successor for the soul of his party and the future of the country.
For one party in this clash, President Nicolás Maduro, Venezuelas unrest has been deeply damaging. He is under fire for his ready reliance on state violence in dealing with unarmed demonstrators, which has left 18 people dead. In public appearances, he seems increasingly exhausted and more than a little unhinged.
