Nine inmates dead in La Planta clashes (Caracas)

Nine bodies were found during a search of the SWAT Team at La Planta jail, southwest Caracas.

According to sources of the Ministry for Penitentiary Services (MSP), nine inmates died during the clashes in there. It seems that most of them succumbed to the events of last Thursday. On that day, multiple shootings lingered, on average, more than two hours each.

The victims have not been identified, because, in addition to lacking their identity documents, they are badly burnt. The bodies were found in Block 3, which was set on fire by inmates on Thursday before they left.

The responsibility for the event has not been established. It is unknown, based on the unofficial information, whether the slain were killed by National Guard troops acting as snipers or by other inmates.

It's important to know that the majority of prisoners in La Planta were still waiting for their trial.

But who gives them weapons? The National Guard and the Army have a total control on the prisons' system in Venezuela. Whatever gets in and out goes through them

not sure if that is the whole prisoner population or just a certain portion.
