How a freelance cameraman came to document a plot to overthrow Castro.

Years after the first Bay of Pigs invasion failed, a second plot to overthrow Cuban dictator Fidel Castro was secretly being waged and funded by the CIA.

A 600-member force of Cuban insurgents, backed by the U.S. government, covertly prepared to re-invade Cuba, training in Costa Rican jungles and planning paratrooping raids in northern Nicaragua. Shadowing these Cuban dissidents was then-29-year-old freelance cameraman Jim Nickless, sporting a boyish grin and a sharp crew cut. He was on assignment to cover the rebels for an NBC documentary.

Should be an interesting gathering around these photos.

Hope he gives prominance to images of Cuban American National Foundation founder, Jorge Mas Canosa, as he remained sitting in his boat, never stepping upon the shore, as the "exiles' " attack on Cuban defenders raged around him.
