On Monday since 4 am, officers of the Bolivarian National Guard, the Bolivarian Intelligence Service (Sebin), and the Anti-extortion and Kidnap Squad (GAES) led a raid in the Cota 905 sector, west Caracas, which had been declared a "peace zone" by the government, in order to recover stolen vehicles. Neighbors reported shootings in the area during the police operation.

As of Monday at 10:30 am, 15 stolen vehicles were recovered and more than 100 people involved in several types of crime were arrested.

According to unofficial reports, 14 were killed amid clashes with the police, including the leader of a criminal gang nicknamed "El Coqui."
