The highly disturbing video revealed by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) shows graphic abuse on "sustainable" wool farms run by Ovis 21, which also supply the British designer and clothes company Patagonia.
The wool, which audacious producers claim is responsibly sourced is also sold in John Lewis and Snow and Rock chains, stocking the Patagonia clothing line. John Lewis said it had raised concerns with the brand.
The gruesome video shows workers sawing through lambs' necks and then watching them bleed, vomit and flail her legs in desperation.
Shearers are also seen snapping animals' necks, kneeling on conscious lambs, stamping on sheep's legs and cutting parts of their ears and tails off, as other terrified animals watch.

Animal rights activists have released footage of farm workers in Argentina slashing lambs with knives, prompting an outdoor clothing maker Patagonia Inc to apologise and launch an investigation into the practices of one of its suppliers.
The graphic four-minute video, published by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), was allegedly filmed in the Ovis 21 farm network, which provides merino wool used in Patagonia's base layers and insulation.
It shows cruel treatment of lambs and sheep, including castration and the docking of tails. Some lambs are stabbed in the neck with knives, and at least one is skinned while apparently still alive.
Clothing company Patagonia, which highlights its commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing, said in a statement the footage was "as disturbing as anything PETA puts out."
