New York activist Lori Berenson, who was convicted 20 years ago of helping leftist rebels who were trying to seize lawmakers in Peru, is finally heading home.

Berenson, 46, still insists she was never part of the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement plot in 1995.

But her treason conviction left her stuck in Peru even after her 2010 parole because she was barred from leaving the country until her 20-year sentence ended, which just happened Sunday.

Next stop for Berenson and her 6-year-old son is her parents’ Manhattan home, but she said she would keep mum about her travel plans to avoid being mobbed by reporters.

Or is the MRTA not fighting for the same cause as the FARC?

I know the FARC's stated goal was to overthrow the Colombian government and impose a marxist system. (Those have worked really well). I believe Sendero Luminoso's goals were the same in Peru.

Just a guess, mind you. With as much validity as your guesses.

Hope you had a good thanksgiving.

Orlando Bosch killed innocent people. He was a terrorist, no matter what political leaning he had. And you know who else has killed innocent people? Insurgent groups like the FARC and MRTA. So they're terrorists in my book as well. See how I answered clearly a "Yes" or "No" question? Judi seems to have a problem with that. She hasn't explicitly said that she doesn't condemn the activities of left-wing insurgent groups like the FARC (and the MRTA, as far as I know) while I'll gladly and explicitly say I condemn any that come from any terrorist group no matter if they're right or left-leaning, at least when I'm asked about it. As far as I know, she supports any terrorist insurgent group so long as they claim to be marxist-leninist, especially when the government they seek to overthrow is more leaning to the right.

Of course, I would stop saying such things if she was a bit more explicit with her answers regarding these types of questions. Recently I asked her also if she does or does not condemn the use of children by governments for propaganda purposes no matter if said government is right or left-leaning since this is something that happened recently at an event celebrated by the Maduro government. She hasn't exactly answered that either. I'm guessing those types of questions where she has to give a clear and concise answer about something that is generally considered wrong to support make her uncomfortable when it implies it makes the groups she supports look bad. And I will insist on calling her a FARC sympathizer (or really a sympathizer of any violently extremist left-leaning entity no matter what their human rights or criminal record is) until she explicitly says she does not support them.
