Ecuadorean Transit Police told teleSUR that the furry creature was back home where he belonged.

For a naturally slow kind of guy, the Ecuadorean sloth’s rise to fame was meteoric. You might even say he began to live life in the fast lane.

The curious-looking mammal was catapulted into the limelight after photos went viral of the Ecuadorean Transit Police rescuing it when it was found clinging to a barrier in the middle of a highway after struggling to cross a road. His story was picked up by news networks across the globe as millions sympathized with his plight.

Now, teleSUR can confirm that the sloth—known as an Oso Perezoso, or Lazy Bear, in his native country—is safely back in its natural habitat.
