Alain Anzueto was the former mayor of the state of Frontera Comalapa from the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party.
An influential former mayor in the Mexican state of Chiapas was gunned down inside his pick-up truck by hitmen in another vehicle.
Alain Anzueto was the mayor of the state of Frontera Comalapa from the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party and later the candidate for the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico for the municipal presidency.
Emergency services were alerted at 8:45 p.m. local time on Tuesday night when Anzueto was murdered. Public Minister Hector Antonio Lopez Trejo confirmed that he had died as a result of the bullet wounds.
According to the size of the lesions, a nine-millimeter calibre firearm was used in the attack. In August, Anzueto’s driver and bodyguard were also murdered by hitmen.
