Bolivian Ministers Ask US to Not Interfere in Internal Affairs

Bolivian Ministers Ask US to Not Interfere in Internal Affairs

La Paz, Apr 18 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian Minister of Defense, Reymi Ferreira, and the Minister of the Presidency, Carlos Romero, have stated that the the United States must understand that the principle for a normal relationship is their non-interference in internal affairs.
Both ministers were responding to statements made by the charge d'affaires of the US embassy in La Paz, Peter Brennan, who told a newspaper that to restore their dimplomatic relationship, trust must be restored first, and a basis of mutual respect is needed.

"What Bolivia demanded and will continue to demand is non-interference in its domestic issues; it is a matter of sovereignty, national dignity, which is not open to discussion," Ferreira said in an interview with the newspaper La Razon.

The Defense Minister recalled that in the past, some countries, including the United States, have become accustomed to intervening in the internal politics of Bolivia.

. . .

During his recent visit to the Vatican, President Morales stated that when he took power in 2006, the political decisions were made by the US Embassy, and the International Monetary Fund handled the economic ones.
