Authorities Seize 10 Tons of Marihuana in Paraguay Underground Port

Asuncion, Apr 29 (Prensa Latina) Paraguay remains a major point of production and trafficking of drugs, especially marijuana, which was shown in the seized today of 10 tons of marihuana in an underground river port.

An operation started in the early hours of Friday ended with the confiscation in Villeta, a city in the Central department, along the Paraguay River, an important industrial center and port.

The authorities estimated at 10,000 kilos the cargo of marijuana seized during the operation, which was pressed into packages and prepared for transfer to the waterway.

In the procedure 11 people were arrested, three of them apparently responsible for the cargo, while the rest were stevedores.

Anti-drug agents also seized four vehicles found in the river and a boat equipped for the operations of drug traffickers.
