Macri Group director seems to contradict presidents Panama Papers claims
A director at the Macri Group yesterday appeared to contradict President Mauricio Macris claims regarding the Fleg Trading Ltd offshore trading company.
Orlando Salvestrini, a member of the IT unit of the Macri Group, told Federal Judge Sebastián Casanello that the Bahamas-based Fleg Trading Ltd firm did operate in Brazil on a trial basis.
The existence of Macris offshore trading companies was first revealed by the so-called Panama Papers, a leak of documents held by the Mossack Fonseca law firm. After the investigation was published, the president acknowledged the existence of Fleg Trading, but said the company had been set up to do business in Brazil and that no deal was ever reached.
No investment was ultimately made, Macri told the La Voz del Interior newspaper in April, hours after the scandal broke out.
