Guatemalan Government Avoids Involving President in Relatives Trial
Guatemala, Sep 16 (Prensa Latina) The government of Guatemala should not make any statement about the alleged involvement of President Jimmy Morales'' son, and one of his brothers, in a corruption case, a government spokesman stressed today.
According to the presidential spokesman, Heinz Heimann, those people are the ones who can and should give an explanation on the matter, but not the president, who based his government in a frontal fight against corruption since the 2015 election campaign.
Indeed, the President was the one who revealed that his son, Jose Manuel Morales and his brother Samuel Morales went to testify before the Public Prosecutor for the case called Loot Land Registry.
In his address to the nation on the anniversary of independence, however, the president already warned that he will not speak about the topic publicly, after expressing his confidence in his son and his brother.
