Chavistas: No new presidential elections will be scheduled

No Elections in Venezuela as Long as ‘Vulgar Sanctions’ Stand
By Andrew Rosati
December 4, 2017, 5:22 PM CST

Venezuela said future elections in the country would only take place once U.S. sanctions against top ranking officials and its finances are lifted, in a sign from the government that next year’s presidential vote is at risk.

Information Minister Jorge Rodriguez said on Monday that any potential accord between President Nicolas Maduro and opposition lawmakers, as well as any vote, hinged on “the lifting of the vulgar sanctions the Venezuelan right wing’s leadership requested of Donald Trump’s Treasury Department as well as Spanish, Canadian and other authorities.”

Rodriguez’s comments on a televised address followed two days of close-door discussions in the Dominican Republic between Venezuela’s warring political factions. The meeting was the first since Maduro installed an all-powerful body of loyalists in August in his push to rewrite the constitution and consolidate power.

Which will not validate an electoral process in which a foreign power continues to interfere?

I think all Democrats would endorse that.

They swoop in, blame the US/NATO//EU/Obama/Clinton/Soros/Jews for something, and then leave.

These guys have no evidence and they don't care about evidence.

It's all about grievances and elevating themselves by declaring themselves the victims of some conpsiracy.

Maduro is a pig of the worst sort and heads one of the most corrupt governments on earth, but the constant "what Western interference in Latin America?" ignores both history and reality.

Neither Obama, nor Clinton, nor Soros, nor (where in the fuck did you come up with this one?) "Jews" have anything specific to them to do with the, not really even hidden, efforts to oust ANY leftist government in Latin America. Throwing out those names is nothing but a rhetorical devise, a straw man, to paint anyone who refuses to deny those efforts as an enemy of our party, as opposed to someone having an objection to the use of control of capital (whether through sanctions or through monetary policy) as a political weapon.

Btw, that is a personal attack and a clear TOS violation. I never alert, but you might consider replacing it with some factual basis for your apparent opinion that political sanctions and global restrictions on the availability of capital are not used to undermine leftist governments in Latin America.
