VicePresident Lucia Topolansky Sends Greetings to Raul Castro
Montevideo, Dec 27 (Prensa Latina) Uruguayan Vice President Lucia Topolansky sent warm greetings to Cuban President Raul Castro and to President of the National Assembly of People''s Power Esteban Lazo, said today a diplomatic source.
In a meeting held for more than two hours with Hector Fraginals, Cuban ambassador in Uruguay, Topolansky highlighted the long and historic ties between the two countries, which had Jose Marti as one of the main promoters when he was appointed Uruguayan consul in 1887.
Topolansky, also head of the General Assembly (Parliament), praised Cuban collaboration in the health sector, which provided more than 75,000 Uruguayans from the poorest sectors with recovered sight thanks to the Operacion Milagro in recent years.
She also praised the support given by Cuban technicians in the work and training of Uruguayan staff in the field of orthopedics.
