The leopard and its spots... guerrilla groups back to their old ways in Venezuela, Colombia

150 Venezuelans are kidnapped by Colombian guerrilla groups

Javier Tarazona said that "we are extremely worried because in the last few hours we have seen how kidnapping has increased in the states of Zulia, Tachira and Apure"

According to the Venezuelan NGO Funda Redes, until May 2018 there is a registry of 150 Venezuelans who have been kidnapped by Colombian guerrilla groups.

The president of this organization, Javier Tarazona, denounced on Thursday, May 31, before the Public Prosecutor's Office, the kidnappings and persecutions that have taken place in border states and asked the agency to intervene in this event.

He said that these people have been kidnapped by Colombian irregular groups that have been deployed throughout much of the Venezuelan territory to commit criminal acts, whipping merchants and residents of border areas.

"We are extremely worried because in the last few hours we have seen how kidnapping has increased in the Zulia, Táchira and Apure states", all of them border on Colombia.

Tarazona highlighted the case of the local political and livestock leader, Velandria, kidnapped on Wednesday, May 30. Relatives of the victim claim that he was abducted by members of the National Liberation Army (ELN), currently the largest active guerrilla in the Andean country.

The ELN are former FARC members who haven't forsworn violence. For the last 52 years, the FARC (and now the ELN) has terrorized rural and poor folk in Colombia in an effort to get them to embrace their extremist viewpoints. They rob, rape and brutalize these rural peoples, often indigenous, and even murder them (like their hero Che) if they don't pick up a gun and join them in their revolution.

They have recently spilled their activity over to Venezuela, at the behest of Chavismo, to "spread the Gospel" there. Their handiwork can be seen on CLAP boxes meant for poor Venezuelans, as the ELN is distributing them in border areas.
