Nine Mexican Governors to Be Elected Today

Nine Mexican Governors to Be Elected Today

Mexico, Jul 1 (Prensa Latina) In nine of the Mexican federal entities there will be elections for governors, and 30 of the 32 will have local elections in addition to the federal vote (President, Deputies and Senators of the Congress of the Union).

Only Baja California and Nayarit are exempt from state elections, because the rest entities will vote for the government, state councils and positions at the municipal level.

Chiapas, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Morelos, Puebla, Tabasco, Veracruz, Yucatan and Mexico City are choosing governor.

Durango, Aguascalientes and Hidalgo vote to renew the local Congress; Coahuila, Tamaulipas and Quintana Roo will vote for mayorships; but there are other states choosing both: municipalities and local deputies, such as Baja California Sur, Sonora, Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Zacatecas, Nuevo Leon, San Luis Potosi, Colima, Michoacan, State of Mexico, Queretaro, Guerrero and Oaxaca.
