Agreed price of a carton of eggs in Venezuela is more than the minimum wage

Consecomercio: Price of the carton of eggs of Plan 50 exceeds the minimum wage
July 3, 2018

Betsy Alvarado V. / July 3 2018. - The price established for the egg carton exceeds the Venezuelan minimum wage in the so-called Plan 50 carried out by the Government to set the value of the products of the basic basket, said the president of Consecomercio, María Carolina Uzcátegui.

"The most serious problem that Venezuelans are experiencing is that our purchasing power is pulverized, we do not have the capacity to buy, before with the minimum wage, several egg cartons were bought and nowadays only one is bought and although for the information we know the fixation that was made for the egg carton exceeds the minimum wage. In this plan 50 the price that was established exceeds the minimum wage, is what we manage, "he revealed.

The information was made known during an interview for TV Venezuela where he also left that with the fixing of prices both producers or merchants will have the product in the shelves in the average that is profitable.

"Nobody is going to produce at a loss. What is going to happen with this 50 plan ?, good the primary producers, both in the initial secondary sector, as in the tertiary sector that is the merchant; as long as it has the capacity to replace that product, it will continue to be on its shelf. And the producer - as long as the costs are incurred - will continue to have it because then how will he risk investing more or taking money from where he does not have if he knows that he can not increase the price of the product? I ask.

In any "agreement", the two sides come together to reach an mutually beneficial arrangement. But in ChavismoLand, the word "agreement" has a different meaning. Chavismo TELLS the producer what the value of their goods are, and the producer has the option of A. selling at a loss, and going out of business, or B. Chavismo takes control of the whole operation, and typically, it is bankrupted within weeks. Either way, the business of commerce ends.

PLAN 50 is an old plan dusted off for this month. 50 everyday goods that Chavismo thinks ought to be dirt cheap are thrown out there for the public to enjoy, and within minutes of being told they will be cheap and plentiful... they disappear permanently from the shelves.
