Carlos Vargas: "Outside the country you see a lot of people excited about the Petro"
The Cooperator | July 3, 2018
Caracas- The constituyer Carlos Vargas said on Tuesday that his departure from the Superintendence of Cryptocurrency was because a cycle culminated in the formation of the crypto system.
He also indicated in the "First Page" program, broadcast by Globovisión, that he built "the foundations of the crypto system, we were called to the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) to promote the Petro" from that instance.
He argued that "the Petro is still functioning, it does not matter what the US State Department says. There have been "transactions with the cryptocurrency and he added that "I do not remember with precision" the figures, but said that more than 70 countries are beginning to assimilate the crypto within their financial system.
"Venezuela is at the forefront of that in a context of economic war. Outside the country you see many people excited about the Petro system and the use of active crypto. The first stage of Petro has been completed," he said.

Maduro begged India to pay for its oil in Petros instead of rupees, and they would get a 30% discount. India said, "no thanks". Maduro offered the world a 40% discount for "pre-sales" in March, and it was learned that a less than $1000 was purchased despite Maduros claim of $5 billion... (of course, he won't "prove" this, and it cannot be proven because there is no blockchain, wallets or anything associated with the scam.
Various cryptocurrency sources say they haven't been able to get past the first page to buying a Petro, even if they wanted to. All sources indicate it is a scam to be avoided.

(53,776 posts)1. Anybody heard anything of the bitcoin lately?
There's too much of a scent of pyramid scheme to it and other cryptocurrencies for me.
Those in first draw off profits and to hell with the late comers.

(16,423 posts)2. The problem with cryptocurrencies is that they are unregulated.
Cryptocurrencies are essentially a barter-economy where you trade virtual objects back and forth. It's not "money".
The big advantage of cryptocurrencies, being free from higher authorities, is also their greatest disadvantage: There are no regulations that prevent market-manipulation. There is no one responsible to keep the value stable.
Cryptocurrencies remind me a lot of the unregulated stock-market prior to the 1929 crash.

Its a premise tried over 6 thousand years and failed every time.
