Angry racist berates woman for wearing a Puerto Rico shirt in America — without realizing it’s part of the US

An angry racist man was caught on camera over the weekend berating a woman for wearing a shirt with the Puerto Rican flag on it in the United States — despite the fact that Puerto Rico is actually a U.S. territory.
In the video, which was posted on July 7th, a woman wearing a Puerto Rican flag shirt calmly tries to explain to a man who has been yelling at her that Puerto Rico is actually part of the United States, even though it is not officially a state.
However, the man was not convinced by her factual arguments and proceeded to follow her around and yell at her some more.
“If you’re an American citizen, why are you wearing that sh*t!” he yelled. “If you’re an American citizen, you should not be wearing that shirt in America!”

Man who went on anti-Puerto Rico rant – and cop who stood by — identified
Officials identified the two men in the video as Timothy G. Trybus, who has been
charged with assault and disorderly conduct, and Forest Preserves police officer
Patrick Connor, who has been placed on desk duty during an investigation into his
handling of the incident.

One man has come to be known as the anonymous finger-pointing loud mouth in a blue tank top. There’s also the cop who stood by as the man berated a woman for the simple act of wearing a shirt with a Puerto Rican flag.
They became famous Monday after a video of the incident at a Northwest Side forest preserve was posted to social and media went viral.

The angry rant made headlines and was viewed millions of times on social media, catching the attention of Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, who apologized to the victim, and the governor of Puerto Rico, who tweeted, “This is not the America we all believe in.”

She went on: “We intend to use the video in future training exercises for our officers. And we want to ensure everyone that the Forest Preserve District will be a safe and welcoming place for all.”
