Two weeks pay for a roll of toilet paper in Venezuela. But the currency is a cheaper alternative

Prices that frighten: to buy Venezuelan toilet paper they have to work more than 60 days
By Eduardo Lugo -July 23, 2018

The price of toilet paper already has a new value in the national market that will amaze more than one, before the few possibilities of obtaining it with a minimum salary.

Currently the presentation of four rolls of paper has a price of Bs. 6,197,000.00 which is equivalent to just over two minimum wages (Bs. 3,000,000.00).

This means that a person who earns that salary must work more than 60 days to be able to acquire it.

Similarly, the minimum integral salary - food ticket + minimum wage (Bs. 5,196,000.00) - is not enough to buy the product so necessary for personal hygiene.

The presentation of two rolls of paper can be obtained in the capital's establishments at a price above Bs. 2,000,000.00.

According to the Center for Documentation and Social Analysis (Cendas), the family food basket for the month of June stood at Bs. 378,300,617, so a family requires Bs. 12,610,000.59 per day to make purchases of home.

The Commission of Finance and Economic Development of the National Assembly (AN) assured that the daily inflation within the national productive apparatus is of 2.8%.

FWIW, it is now illegal to wipe your ass with a (now useless) Bolivar note. You will get prison and a proper "Bolivarian beatdown" in SEBIN headquarters if they find you sticking said shit covered notes on the face of any portrait of Maduro, Chavez or anyone else associated with Chavismo. The bills don't biodegrade, so they can't be flushed. Not that there is water for flushing. Or washing your hands.
