Maduro: The psychopath Juan Requesens is the author of the attackOleg Kostko 7 Aug 2018.- President Nicolás Maduro linked Deputy Juan Requesens with the attack against him that occurred on Saturday, August 4. And also mentioned the deputy and leader of Primero Justicia, Julio Borges.
On national radio and television, the Head of State said that the central objective was not only to assassinate the president, but "but to kill a country, kill hope, kill the light of peace, kill the idea of coexistence, of shared peace, the idea of democracy as the supreme formula of life among Venezuelans, it is about killing, stabbing, filling with violence the political life of Venezuela," he said.
He also assured that a miracle La Chinita, virgin patron of Zulia state, was what saved him and the high officials who were there that day in the act when the two drones flew over Bolivar Avenue loaded, according to Minister Reverol, with 1 kilogram of C4 explosives each.
"It was the Chinita with her beautiful blessings that gave us the possibility of continuing to live ... We are alive because it was a truly miraculous day, it saved us a miracle, beyond security measures, we were born again on August 4" he said.

If you missed it, Maduro was saved from certain assassination when his "sharpshooters" shot a couple of television style drones out of the sky. At least that is his version of the fiasco (which included his military scattering like cockroaches). Only 10 nations in the world have offered their support for Maduro's version of events... which he insists is "proof" of the worldwide conspiracy afoot against his great battle.

Why is that?

(10,206 posts)Many years ago I lived there as a child. I remember the poverty. Capitalism, poverty and illiteracy made the country a horrible mess. The rich lived in mansions with gardeners, servants and orchards. So proud of their wealth, they thought God had ordained them rich because they were so wonderful.
The poor lived in card board boxes. I saw a family of 5 living out of a refrigerator box. That's the Venezuela you want to go back to.

(2,412 posts)You will be happy to learn that the 30% poverty rate from the formerly middle-class nation is now at 95%, with 80% living in extreme poverty.
Chavismo for the win!

(10,206 posts)They had an interview with the pro environment candidate in Columbia. He has some facts about the US and in particular all of VP Pence's visits to South America and how he has been preparing to attack Venezuela.
Poverty has not gotten worse since socialism. Even John Oliver, when he gave the Right Wing propaganda view of Venezuela, couldn't claim poverty has gotten worse and had to admit poverty, illiteracy and health outcomes have improved.
But there is a group that is suffering under socialism....the right wing uber rich. And they are using all their stolen wealth to fight back.
