Maduro sends air incursions into Colombia

Colombia denounces Venezuelan military incursion in its territory (reported)
August 21 2018, 1:14 pm

Colombia denounced today that two helicopters and some 30 Venezuelan military entered the Colombian territory last Sunday in what they consider "a violation of sovereignty."

The two helicopters were identified with the initials of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB, militarized police) and the military, belonging to the Bolivarian National Armed Forces of Venezuela, disembarked in a sector known as Vetas de Oriente, in the border town of Tibú, department of Norte de Santander (northeast), the Foreign Ministry explained in a statement.

Below the statement:

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that on August 19, 2018, in the sector of Vetas de Oriente, Municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander, there was a violation of the Sovereignty of Colombia, by two (2) helicopters military, identified with the initials of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and about 30 armed personnel belonging to the Bolivarian National Armed Forces of Venezuela, who were landed in the referred sector.

On instructions from the President of the Republic, Iván Duque Márquez, the Foreign Ministry, by virtue of the report on the events that gave evidence that an unauthorized military incursion was evidenced in the national territory, presented to the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, a note expressing the strongest protest against the aforementioned facts. This isn't something new. Every time the SHTF in ChavismoLand, they start with "incursions". A couple of years ago, they were flying copters over Colombia border cities in a show of "strength" (or ineptitude, depending on your worldview) This was denied by Venezuela, but recorded on civilian smart phones.

Recently, the government of Guyana took issue with the recent border incursions, both land and sea (Venezuela is the only party disputing the border, which has been settled for over 120 years) to the International Court of Justice for final resolution... Venezuela has boycotted... but has since decided to build a "base" on a remote island on the other side of the border. Venezuela has denied such a base... but OOPS! What shows up on the Guyana side of the border on Google Maps on Anacoco island? How'd that get there?

I'd hate to think what they would do to the Venezuelan military who hasn't fought a war (not including Junta's) since practically the time of Bolivar.

6. As has been mentioned, Colombia's military is battle tested and well equipped.

One country has spent the last 50 years fighting a guerrilla war (and being quite successful)

The other country has over 4000+ generals** who haven't seen a day of battle in their lives. But they do so love marching around the parade grounds... and waving their ceremonial faux "Bolivar's Sword" at every perceived slight with fake indignation. And the moral is so low that the officers routinely get heckled by the enlisted men due to the lack of food.

**The entire US military structure has 653 flag officers, Title 10 of the U.S. Code
