Another neglected electric substation erupts into fireball. Parts of VZ in darkness... again

An electrical substation located in the residential sector of Tierra Negra, north of Maracaibo, Zulia state, caught fire at 1 and 22 this morning.

It is the Las Tarabas substation, located behind the Paraíso clinic, where the strong explosion that left several sectors of the municipality without electric service was registered.

Police officers, firefighters and personnel of Corpoelec analyze what happened and are guarding the facilities from early hours.

Luis Motta Domínguez published photos of how the substation was, but without investigating, he said that it seems "strange" to him, since at that time there is "low demand" for electricity. "A few moments ago, the S/E Tarabas exploded, located in the Paraíso sector, affecting the northern area of Maracaibo. Work is already underway to restore service through another circuit. Commissions on the site finding out the reason for the explosion. At this time there is low demand ... weird!", He tweeted.

Twitter users report that after the fire "occurred during the umpteenth blackout by rationing in the area. The noise was deafening while shining in the distance ".

The Zulia people awoke with the explosion that "echoed throughout the northern part of the city," María Corina Machado wrote on Twitter. It is expected that in the next hours the regional authorities will pronounce on the event.

Wierd? Not wierd. The well rehearsed company line has always been "sabotage!"... never "neglect for the last 19 years of Chavismo". Especially since Chavismo has insisted that the military, national guard and police are "guarding" all of the electrical substations from such activities. (Hate to be on THAT assignment when one blows up!)

Parts of Maracaibo are still without power two+ weeks after the last "sabotage" because they cannot find replacement parts for the high capacity lines that have corroded. Not easy to walk into the local hardware story and pick up 12" thick electrical cable that is 10 miles long.

Why not? Beats the hell out of the Zulia governors explanation that the Sun is closer to Zulia than anywhere else on the planet.
