Caracas, August 31 - Starting on September 4, the test phase of gasoline charges will start at international prices, informed Thursday the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
In statements transmitted by Facebook Live, the head of state explained that this stage - which will be carried out with the Carnet de la Patria - will start in the 41 border municipalities of the country.
"On Tuesday, September 4, the trial period begins for the gasoline collection system of the Carnet de la Patria in the 41 border municipalities, which will start the system in the trial period," said the National President.
In this regard, he emphasized that in the municipalities bordering Colombia, a "higher price of gasoline" will be charged in order to combat the smuggling of extraction.
During his speech, in which he was accompanied by the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, the Venezuelan president indicated that this system will be implemented progressively.
"We are going to work on three levels: on a first level border municipalities, on a second level the states of maximum consumption and on the third level the rest of the geography," he said.
On August 26, President Maduro indicated that eight thousand young people of Plan Chamba Juvenil will be trained in this rehearsal phase, who will be in charge of overseeing and "ending gasoline smuggling forever".

Backstory: Maduro uses the the PSUV "Fatherland Card" (aka Chavismo Loyalty Card) to keep track of who is doing what, when and where. If you use the card, you are considered a Chavist voter whose vote will count towards whoever the local, regional or national PSUV candidate might be. Food, money and benefits are handed out to only those who have such a card (and show up for the periodic rally's called by the party... look for the red awnings where your card will be scanned...)
