Rick Scott Has a Question for Socialist-Friendly Sanders Supporters: Why Don’t You Move to Venezuela?

Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) blasted 2020 Democratic presidential primary hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-Vt.) policy ideas on Wednesday, comparing them to Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro’s and asking if Sanders’s supporters would “move to Caracas.”

While giving an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Scott — who was elected to the Senate in 2018 — took a shot at Sanders’ policies and his supporters by saying that they should “move to Caracas” if they like the self-described democratic socialist.

“I’m going to the Venezuelan border next week. I’m going to Colombia. I’ll be at the Venezuelan border. If you like Bernie Sanders, why don’t you go ahead and move to Caracas?”

When one of the hosts of the show attempted to separate the socialist policies of the Maduro regime from democratic socialism — which Sanders said he needed to do a “better job” explaining last month — Scott seemingly rolled his eyes.
