Colombian Filmmaker Shot Dead Reporting Documentary on Violence
Bogota, May 10 (Prensa Latina) Colombian film director and producer Mauricio Lezama was shot dead in the department of Arauca, local authorities confirmed on Friday.
Lezama was in that Colombian region of Orinoquia while producing a documentary on the victims of violence in the country, when he was shot on Thursday afternoon by gunmen traveling on a motorbike.
The crime took place in the village of La Esmeralda Arauquita, Police Officer Jose Gregorio Ortiz said.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Office in Colombia condemned the assassination of the Colombian director, on whom he worked as a film adviser in Arauca and promoter of youth, culture and peace rights.
