The federal government and the Attorney General's Office announced on Thursday (5) that they have reached an agreement to allocate money from the Car Wash fund to the Amazon and education.
According to Attorney General Raquel Dodge, R$ 1 billion will be allocated to actions to combat deforestation in the Amazon and R$ 1.6 billion for education.
"It is important to note that [resources] will address the areas of education, science, and technology, the area of early childhood and the socio-educational system, all significant areas for promoting citizenship in Brazil," Dodge said.
"The defense of the Amazon, which is Brazilian heritage, is very important, and it now has resources that will go to agriculture, technical assistance, land regularization, forest fire-prevention, and forest regeneration. These are very important areas that will be served with this money, in the public interest and the Brazilian interest," he added.
