Guaido's Delegation to the UN may not be Accredited

September 16, 2019

The opposition deputy, Juan Guaidó , announced this Saturday during a rally in eastern Caracas that he will send a delegation of his “diplomats” to the next General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) that will start in New York city on September 17.

According to the opposition deputy, this delegation would go to the UN to denounce the alleged presence of irregular Colombian groups in Venezuela, after Guaido himself was linked to the paramilitary gang dedicated to drug trafficking Los Rastrojos , with whose leaders he was photographed last February .

The Deputy did not explain during his statements how his delegates would participate in the 74th session of the UN, since his management as interim president has not been recognized by the United Nations and almost 75% of its member states.

Last April, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean ( ECLAC ), one of the five regional commissions under the UN, refused to accredit Guarequena Gutiérrez, who tried to enter the Third Meeting as an official representative of Venezuela during the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development held in Santiago, Chile.
