Colombian candidate received death threat
Bogota, Sep 22 (Prensa Latina) Nohora Stella Tovar Manrique, a candidate for mayor of the Colombian municipality of Andalucia (west), received death threats with nearly a month to go before regional and local elections.
The coalition Colombia Humana-Union Patriotica file the denunciation in the department of Valle del Cauca, at a time when violent events are taking place in the days prior to October 27 el ections.
These events come at a time when the senator and former presidential candidate Gustavo Petro is traveling through several municipalities in Valle del Cauca where he will preside over massive popular gatherings, local Prensa Rural news agency reported.
The events of political violence persist in Colombia where since the beginning of the electoral campaign, last July 27, seven candidates have been assassinated.
