Glum Spain hosts summit for booming Latam nations
The Associated Press

CADIZ, Spain —

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy is opening the Iberoamerican summit, which brings together Latin American leaders and the heads of Spain and Portugal, the former colonial powers.

The meeting comes at a time when Latin America basks in strong economic growth and Spain and Portugal are stuck in deep recessions and struggling with high debt.

Heads of state from Mexico to Chile started arriving Friday in the port city of Cadiz, where conquistadores centuries ago unloaded riches taken from former Spanish colonies.

Police in Cadiz fired rubber bullets Friday afternoon at shipyard workers trying to disrupt the summit with a demonstration against mass layoffs that disrupted traffic for an hour.

"Latam nations"...perhaps a spell checker would do better. Agnosticsherbet Nov 2012 #1
"Latam" is commonly used as an abbreviation of "Latin American". n/t Judi Lynn Nov 2012 #2

Nope. Latin American countries with LEFTIST governments are basking in strong economic growth!

Typical Associated Pukes spin.

And their phrase "from Mexico to Chile" is all wrong. Chile is going the way of Spain, with huge student protests against 1%er "austerity" and a RW president with a 25% approval rating. And Mexico's poor have never been more shat upon under Bush Jr.'s pal, Felipe Calderon, PLUS the murderous devastation of the U.S. "war on drugs."

It is the countries that have REJECTED Wall Street's dictates and U.S. corporatism and militarism that are PROSPERING and SPREADING the wealth!

Of course, anyone who depends on the Associated Pukes for real information about Latin America wouldn't know this.

VENEZUELA! (the pioneer against 'austerity')
Brazil.
Argentina.
Bolivia.
Ecuador.
Uruguay.

Those sharing the wealth, those helping the poor, are experiencing amazing economic growth. Those that are shitting on the poor are not. Colombia. Honduras. Guatemala. The U.S. client states are sinks of vast poverty and U.S. "war on drugs" violence.

The leftist leaders of Latin America now have a chance to invest in Spain with the requirement that Spain drop 1%-er "austerity." So naturally the Associated Pukes, in their low-minded way, bring up the "conquistadors" to feed resentment, anger and conflict, to prevent any such Hispanic accord.

I don't call them the Associated Pukes for nothing.
