Massive marches against IMF in Argentina

Buenos Aires, Feb 12 (Prensa Latina) Argentina´s social movements, political parties, and unions gathered to protest against the International Monetary Fund (IMF), whose delegation arrived on Wednesday in this capital.

Under the slogan 'Down the pact to pay the debt,' the Organizaciones en Lucha Front took to the streets to demand the suspension of credit the Mauricio Macri administration contracted in 2018 with the IMF, and also demanded the debt investigation as well as the IMF to leave Latin America.

'We consider the debt is utterly unlawful and we do not agree the people pay for it by worsening their living conditions,' said the Front, which called to head to the IMF headquarters in downtown Buenos Aires to express their discomfort.

The IMF delegation, led by the Deputy Director of the Department for the Western Hemisphere, Julie Kosack, and her representative in Argentina, Luis Cobeddu, will have a seven-day visit in this capital to meet with the Alberto Fernandez administration and discuss how to solve the outstanding payment of 44 billion dollars.
