A group of Longmont residents is seeking justice for an immigrant from Honduras after he was attacked Sunday near Garden Acres Park.

Jorge Rodriguez, 30, reported to Longmont police that he was beaten by a man, and Rodriguez said the assailant yelled, “Get out of our country,” during the assault.

Rodriguez is an undocumented immigrant from Honduras who works as a foreman for a construction company. His employer, Jackie Gonzales, saw Rodriguez after the attack. She said his face was so bruised that one of his eyes was swollen shut and his nose was fractured.

Longmont police Detective Sgt. Todd Chambers said in a news release Wednesday that the assault occurred about 4:50 p.m. in the 1800 block of Spencer Street, just west of Garden Acres Park. Chambers said the incident is under police investigation. The release described the suspect as a white man, approximately 30 years old, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing about 175 pounds with blond hair and tattoos on both arms.
