Cuba began recovery works in eastern and central provinces after tropical storm
Havana, Aug 25 (Prensa Latina) The National General Staff of Cuba's Civil Defense established on Tuesday the recovery phase for the eastern and central regions of the country after the passage of Tropical Storm Laura.
According to a press release, the instruction was put in force since 07:00 local time. Tropical Storm Laura swept throughout the island hitting first the east and came out late last night into the Gulf of Mexico through Key Hope, northern coast of Pinar del Rio province in the west. The referred phase covers the eastern and central provinces of Guantanamo, Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Las Tunas, Holguin, Camagüey, Ciego de Avila, Sancti Spiritus, Cienfuegos, Villa Clara, plus Matanzas, in the west of Cuba.
During the execution of recovery actions, it is necessary to comply with the protection measures established in the Prevention and Control Plan for the SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19, and the guidelines of the local authorities, the text states.
It also recognizes the work carried out by local governments in all territories and solidarity shown by the people in the disciplined compliance with measures oriented during the response to this event.
