One of the main tourist attractions in the Chapada dos Guimarães park, in Mato Grosso/ the Véu de Noiva waterfall- is practically without water due to the water and climate crisis that is plaguing the country.
The postcard of the region rises 86 meters high and is formed by the waters of the Coxipozinho stream. Surrounded by a sandstone wall, in a horseshoe-shaped valley, the place is home to scarlet macaw nests, which are also one of the local attractions.
The waters that flow from above resemble a bridal veil, hence its name. But, with the water crisis that hits Brazil, the waterfall has lost this aspect and has been increasingly scarce. The country is experiencing the worst drought in nearly a hundred years.
