Datafolha: Half of Brazilians Say They Believe Bolsonaro Can Successfully Stage A Coup
Support for democracy remains high, 51% say they fear dictatorship, and the majority see the Bolsonaro agenda toward the branches of the government as a risk

For 50% of Brazilians, Jair Bolsonaro's coup rhetoric could come true and there is a chance the president will attempt a coup d'état.
The anti-democratic agenda of his supporters is perceived as such by the majority, just as the actions of the three branches of the government are seen as threats.
Support for democracy, in turn, remains solid: 70% of those interviewed by Datafolha from 13 to 15 September say they believe that the system is the best for the countrythe second highest level in the historical series started in 1989. Those who admit the dictatorship as an option is at the lowest level, 9%.
The fear that Brazil will return to being a dictatorship, as it was under the military from 1964 to 1985 or with Getúlio Vargas from 1937 to 1945, is the highest since Datafolha began to question this, in February 2014: 51% , compared to 45% who say they do not believe in risk and 5% who do not know.
