KINGSTON, Jan 1 (Reuters) - A former Colombian military member implicated in last year's assassination of Haiti President Jovenel Moise will be deported from Jamaica to his home country on Jan. 3, Jamaica's attorney general said on Saturday.

Mario Antonio Palacios, 43, is accused by Haitian authorities of forming part of a mercenary group that assassinated Moise in July during an assault on his private residence, during which his wife was also injured.

Palacios was arrested in Jamaica last October and convicted for illegally entering the country from the Dominican Republic.

Jamaica's government had issued a deportation order for illegally entering the country. But the island nation has no formal extradition treaty with Haiti, where Palacios is wanted, a local police spokesman said.

Suspect linked to killing of Haiti’s president is detained in Panama

Mario Antonio Palacios held en route from Jamaica to Colombia, and may have been taken to US

A suspected member of the group involved in the murder last year of Haiti’s president, Jovenel Moïse, has been detained while transiting through Panama after his release by a court in Jamaica.

Mario Antonio Palacios, 43, a former member of the Colombian military, is accused by Haitian authorities of being part of a mercenary group that tortured and killed Moïse and wounded his wife, Martine, during an attack on Moïse’s private home in July.

Palacios has admitted in a media interview being in Moïse’s bedroom during the assault in which the president died, but has denied being involved in the killing.

Jamaica instead ordered his deportation to Colombia, but while transiting to his home country via Panama he was intercepted at the airport and is believed to have been put on a flight to the US, which, like Haiti, has issued an Interpol red notice requesting his arrest.

The article says Moises was tortured, which I didn't know, and that they harmed his wife.

It really makes one wonder if the truth is being buried even more deeply now he has disappeared into the depths of the US system.

Someone really hated Moises even more than other people hated Moises.
